Bobbi Jean or Grams, we may all have known her by one name or another but I knew her as mom. Born in Des Moines,
IA Bobbi grew up on a farm and particpating in 4-H. Later her family moved to CA, even though they left their farm behind
her 4-H career did not end there. She excelled in many projects, clothing construction, leadership, vet. science, and
even rabbits. I, like most of us, remember her telling stories of growing up having to feed wheelbarrow fulls of rabbit
feed each morning.
She later became a terrific volunteer 4-H leader for the state of CA. After marrying her first husband she moved
to MS. In MS she was a voulunteer 4-H Leader for over 35 years. She was the founder of the Dixie 4-H Club, Rebel
Youth Rabbit Club, and many other terrific youth and adult organizations. After two of her daughters and three grandchildren
moved to the Tuscaloosa area, she decided to follow in suit. Here she helped out tremendously in starting and making
the Tuscaloosa County 4-H Rabbit Club a huge success. She single handly planned the First Annual West AL State Fair
Open Youth Fun Rabbit Show in 2005. She was on the committe for the 2006 Show and was involved in planning until the
day she went to the hospital. She also was one of the founding members of the West AL Rabbit Club.
On October 1, 2006 we lost not only a 4-H Leader, rabbit producer, grandmother and great-grandmother but a dear friend
that will be missed and loved by all.
God Bless,
Billie-Jo Maxcey, daughter
